7 REASONS WHY VIDEO IS DEFINITELY THE TREND FOR 2016

1. POWER POINT IS RETIRING

PowerPoint has been the standard presentation tool for years, but in 2015 the demand for PowerPoint skills was down 5% on hiring platform, ‘Upwork’. On the other hand, platforms such as Prezi and Keynote, which perform in a dynamic way grew 23% and 18% respectively.Even with the increase of dynamic presentations, images and infographics, video is becoming the preferred presentation tool. “It’s true that video is becoming the new medium. It’s sort of replacing photos, slowly,” adds Josh Bersin, principal and founder of Bersin by Deloitte. “Little by little, videos are catching up.”

YouTube is often said to be the second largest search engine in the world after Google itself. YouTube has over a billion users — almost one-third of all people on the Internet — and everyday people watch hundreds of millions of hours on YouTube and generate billions of views.

From 2016 when you search something in Google, you will receive ad video streaming among the results. Video ads is already a thing in video platforms like Vimeo and YouTube, but we can expect see this format much more often around the internet, especially in other social media channels. For example, already in 2015, using videos on promoted tweets, increases engagement by 7 times that of plain text or static images.

5. LIVE STREAMING

Livestream broadcast has become a go to tool for promoting an event, communicating with co-workers across large distances, and broadcasting to the public at a fraction of the cost of traditional media. Video livestream brings more personalization and interactivity, as well as its content can be repurposed and shared.

6. THE BEST WAY TO ENGAGE MILLENNIALS

If you are targeting millennials you must think about video as a key tool. Millennials do not engage with traditional media channels like TV and press, who are losing engagement everyday to the internet. Millennials find their entertainment and education on Youtube, social platforms such as Snapchat and mobile apps. Video and will continue to grow and be used in many innovative ways in the foreseeable future, especially when the consumer is at the centre of the message.

7. BEHAVIOUR IS CHANGING — SOME STATS

- 81% of consumers watched videos longer than 10 minutes on their connected TVs, 65 percent watched videos longer than 30 minutes.- In 2014, viewers spent 23 percent of their time on tablets watching videos of 30 to 60 minutes in length, more than on any other device.- 45% of mobile videos viewed were less than 6 minutes.- In warm weather, consumers watch 6x more video content on mobile devices.- In cold weather, viewers watch 29 percent longer.
